I have been working on a different type of battle animations lately.
Previous animations have been based on particle effects (where I simply draw a sprite and then use an animation software to produce multiple instances of such sprites and manipulate them in various ways), however, I have been working on animating differently (drawing unique individual parts of an animations vs. using the same part but manipulated in a particle-generator). The result today is an icicle battle animation which composes of a large icicle that breaks into multiple pieces (on the enemy’s head).
The result is not too shabby, I must say. I have a rockfall animation in the works as well! Icicle itself was drawn in a ‘painted’ style (different to my usual style of either using random photoshop brushes or pixel art).
